Abstract
The present study aims to evaluate the positive and negative aspects of skillful performance by examining the technical activities in Taekwondo contests and comparing them across different rounds. The study was conducted on four players who participated in the Iraq Taekwondo Championship for Olympic weight categories in 2009. The researcher adopted a descriptive method using a survey style, ensuring the validity and reliability of the study tool through suitable scientific methods. A form was provided for players to record their technical performance, identifying the scientific conditions necessary for it. After applying appropriate statistical treatments, the researcher concluded that offensive techniques dominated in the first rounds, while players resorted to defense in later rounds. Additionally, the study found a neglect of mental training and psychological preparation for contests, with weaknesses in training planning (both offensive and defensive) and handling emergencies or challenging situations. The researcher strongly recommends distributing players' physical and skill efforts throughout the three rounds, paying attention to comprehensive athlete preparation without neglecting psychological and mental activities. Players should also utilize contest time and exploit weak points. The research opens new avenues for similar studies in the future
