Abstract

The Scout Movement is recognized as an educational initiative that uses effective methods to contribute to the holistic development of youth—physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually—helping them grow as individuals and responsible citizens at local, national, and international levels. This philosophy is rooted in the belief that physical development leads to greater vitality, improved performance, and stronger individuals capable of leading healthy, functional lives. This study aimed to assess the impact of a physical-health-based curriculum, inspired by scouting activities, on the development of physical and motor abilities among first-year students at the Faculty of Physical Education for Girls, University of Baghdad. An experimental method was employed, with participants divided into two groups: an experimental group (Division A) and a control group (Division C). The intervention began on March 14, 2010, and lasted for eight weeks, involving 24 sessions (three per week), each lasting 30 minutes. The physical-health curriculum was completed on May 6, 2010, and post-tests were conducted on May 9 and 10, 2010. Data were analyzed using SPSS software. The results demonstrated that the experimental group significantly outperformed the control group in all measured physical variables. The study concluded that the applied physical-health curriculum had a positive impact on the development of physical and motor abilities. As a result, the researcher recommends integrating physical activities into health camps and scouting programs to further enhance youth development
