Abstract
The aim of this research is twofold: first, to identify the problems faced by students in the physical education departments at the University of Sulaimani from the students' perspective; and second, to determine the most pressing issues among the research sample. The researchers employed the descriptive survey method due to its suitability for the nature of the study. The research population consisted of 369 male and female students from the departments of training, teaching, and basic education. A sample of 100 students was randomly selected, comprising 70 male and 30 female students. To collect data, the researchers developed a research tool consisting of 32 items divided into three axes: academic (15 items), educational environment (8 items), and educational/social (9 items). After ensuring the scientific validity and reliability of the tool, a pilot study was conducted, followed by the main application. Statistical methods used included Pearson’s correlation coefficient, split-half reliability, Spearman-Brown equation, mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentage, chi-square, severity scores, and percentage weights. The study reached several conclusions, among them: one of the most significant problems faced by students is that course materials and textbooks are not in their native language; students experience anxiety due to an unclear professional future after graduation; and the lack of laboratories for subjects such as sports physiology, biomechanics, and testing and measurement has led to difficulties in understanding the theoretical content of these courses.
