Abstract

The current study aimed to assess the extent to which physical education teachers in primary and secondary schools in the Kingdom of Bahrain apply the concept of postural awareness. The study also examined whether there were differences in the application of this concept based on gender and years of experience. The descriptive analytical method was used, and the study sample consisted of 59 teachers (21 male and 38 female) from primary and secondary schools in Bahrain, with ages ranging from 22 to 56 years (mean age: 34.11 years, standard deviation: 6.30). The teachers' years of experience varied from 1 to 5 years (11 teachers), 5 to 10 years (30 teachers), and more than 10 years (18 teachers). The teachers were distributed across the five governorates of Bahrain: 8 teachers from the Southern Governorate, 19 from the Central Governorate, 11 from Muharraq Governorate, 11 from the Northern Governorate, and 10 from the Capital Governorate. The study tools included a questionnaire designed to assess the application of postural awareness by physical education teachers, which was validated for reliability and consistency. The results indicated that 43.99% of the sample reported a lack of or very limited application of postural awareness during physical education classes, while about 30.01% acknowledged applying the concept during their classes. The study also found significant statistical differences between male and female teachers in the application of postural awareness, with female teachers applying the concept more than their male counterparts at the 0.05 level. Finally, the study revealed no significant differences in the application of postural awareness based on years of experience. The researcher discussed these findings and provided recommendations based on the results of the study.
