Abstract
Passing and shooting skills are considered essential in basketball. Teaching these skills to second-grade intermediate students, especially beginners, requires appropriate teaching methods to effectively convey the lessons. The researcher decided to use the alternating and training methods to determine which method is more effective in teaching these two skills to the students. An educational curriculum was designed to apply both methods, and two tests were chosen for passing and shooting skills. The researcher randomly selected 40 male students from the second grade at Al-Ma'moon Intermediate School for Boys in Baghdad and implemented the educational program for 8 weeks. Statistical methods were used, and a pilot study was conducted before the pre-test. The results showed that the alternating method was more effective in teaching certain basketball skills
