The predictive value of the regression equation in the completion of a 100-meter freestyle swim for applicants up to the year 20

Abstract

The research consisted of five chapters. The first chapter included the introduction and the importance of the study, where a general idea about the swimming event and the use of statistical analysis through regression equations in the sports field was discussed, highlighting their role in predicting future outcomes based on previous data. The research aimed to identify the strengths and weaknesses in the development of 100-meter freestyle swimming by using predictive statistical methods and evaluating the accuracy of the prediction equation in determining the expected performance level for swimmers in this category, as well as drawing plans and preparing for these predictions. The research problem focused on the lack of use of predictive equations to scientifically and simply determine the performance level in 100-meter freestyle swimming. The second chapter covered topics related to swimming and selection in sports, while the third chapter outlined the research methodology. The descriptive method was used, and the sample was chosen from elite Iraqi swimmers in the advanced category of the sport. Statistical analysis was applied to obtain the sample results. The fourth chapter presented, analyzed, and discussed the data obtained from the regression equation, showing a high degree of accuracy for the used equation. The fifth chapter concluded that the statistical equation provided accurate results for predicting performance for 100-meter freestyle swimmers in the advanced category. The results were found to be similar to those of world champions, due to the high accuracy of the equation. Recommendations included encouraging coaches to use the statistical equation employed in the study, applying the equation in similar studies for other age groups, and giving more attention to mathematical and statistical equations to provide clearer insights into future achievements.
