Abstract
The research aimed to establish scientific foundations for selecting an effective and suitable training method, using specific exercises with progressive distances and proposed times to develop special speed endurance and performance in 1500m running. The sample consisted of four young athletes specialized in 1500m running, from the National Center for Gifted Care in 2012, participating at the Baghdad International Stadium in 2013. The researcher discussed the theoretical aspects of the study, focusing on the concept of special speed endurance and related training methods. An experimental approach was applied using a single group with pre-test and post-test measurements. The researcher used tests for special speed endurance over 1000m and a performance test for the 1500m. After analyzing the results statistically, the researcher concluded that the exercises with progressive distances and proposed times helped improve special speed endurance in 1000m running and 1500m performance. Additionally, such exercises with progressive distances and suggested times can be adopted in training.
