Abstract

The research consists of five chapters: Chapter 1: Introduction and the importance of the research, which focuses on identifying the level of certain physical abilities specific to volleyball players and the nature of the individual tasks and responsibilities assigned to them. The problem of the research lies in the relative differences in physical abilities among players from different specializations. The aim of the research is to identify the differences in physical abilities between volleyball players, comparing various physical attributes. The research's fields include the human domain, which involved 12 players from the University of Baghdad’s volleyball team (2013-2014), and the spatial domain, which was held in the internal hall at the College of Physical Education, University of Baghdad. The temporal domain was from March 10, 2014, to March 16, 2014. Chapter 2: The theoretical studies related to the research topic, which included topics such as the physical abilities of volleyball players and their importance, as well as similar studies. Chapter 3: The methodology of the research and the field procedures, where the researcher used a descriptive method with an approach for testing and evaluating the physical abilities. It also included a pilot study to refine the testing process. Chapter 4: The data presentation in tables, where the means, standard deviations, and post-comparison analyses were shown. These were then scientifically discussed using the least significant difference (LSD) method and supported by relevant sources to achieve the research objectives. Chapter 5: Conclusions: There are significant differences between players from the four specializations in physical abilities, such as explosive leg muscle strength, explosive arm muscle strength, reaction speed of the arm muscles, reaction speed of the leg muscles, and torso flexibility.
