Abstract
The scientific advancements that have influenced various sports activities have certainly not excluded handball. On the contrary, such progress has had a direct impact on the nature of gameplay, and there is no doubt that technical performance in sports is dynamic, continuously evolving based on movement situations and the development within the sport itself. Accordingly, any significant progress in the field pushes specialists to develop their training methods. This prompted the researchers to pay attention to modern training approaches aimed at improving and mastering technical performance. They sought to explore the effectiveness of these methods when applied practically. The researchers utilized inclined surfaces as a training tool, and in addition, they aimed to introduce extra resistance by having players perform exercises on the inclined surfaces with added weights. The goal was to examine the development of specific leg muscle strength among young players through these combined resistance methods and to assess their effect on performing the overhead shooting skill in handball. The researchers adopted the experimental method due to its suitability for the research problem. The sample was intentionally selected and consisted of youth handball players from Al-Karkh Club, aged between 17 and 19 years.Findings:The exercises performed on inclined surfaces had a significant effect on developing the explosive strength of the leg muscles in the experimental group. These exercises also had a positive impact on improving the muscular endurance of the leg muscles.Recommendations:The researchers emphasized the need to benefit from modern and diverse training methods to break the monotony of traditional training routines and enhance athletic performance.
