Abstract

The study aimed to identify the relationship between total height, arm length, special strength, and the performance of the free throw skill in basketball, as well as to determine the contribution percentage of total height, arm length, and special strength in performing the free throw skill. The researcher adopted the descriptive method using a survey and correlational approach suitable for the nature of the current study. The research population and sample consisted of players from the women’s team of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, totaling 11 players; the main experiment was applied to 8 players, while 3 players were selected for the exploratory experiment. The study concluded that there is a significant correlation between the physical measurements (total height and arm length) and the free throw skill in basketball, as well as a significant correlation between special strength (explosive strength and speed-strength of the arms) and the free throw skill. The contribution percentages of the physical measurements were good, confirming the effectiveness of these measurements in skill performance. Likewise, the contribution percentages of special strength were good, confirming the effectiveness of these abilities in performing the skill.
