Abstract

The research problem was formulated in the following question: What is the role of transformational leadership in enhancing the effectiveness of physical education teachers in Basra Governorate schools? The research aimed to identify the extent to which transformational leadership is practiced by school principals in developing the effectiveness of female physical education teachers in Basra's schools. The study focused on three areas: the human field, represented by the female physical education teachers in Basra schools; the spatial field, which was Al-Ashar Secondary School hall; and the temporal field, covering the period from December 1, 2014, to March 24, 2015. The researchers adopted the descriptive method using a survey approach. The research sample included the entire population of 163 female teachers. Important results were obtained through the application of the research tool (a questionnaire), and the conclusions emphasized the need to improve the criteria for selecting school principals by offering preparatory courses to candidates, followed by a formal assessment. Only those who pass the assessment should be appointed. The study also stressed the importance of nurturing change leaders within schools and developing their skills so they can form a clear vision of the nature, motivation, processes, and outcomes of change. These leaders can then translate that vision into practical and collaborative implementation programs within the school environment.
