Abstract

The research highlights the importance of understanding certain physical abilities and mental processes that play a crucial role in the performance of Taekwondo players. The study aimed to develop specific exercises tailored to enhance these physical and mental capabilities according to the characteristics of the research sample and to assess the impact of these exercises on Taekwondo players’ abilities. It was hypothesized that significant differences would exist between pre- and post-tests regarding some physical and mental capacities within the sample. The research sample consisted of eight players from the Police Sports Club Baltaicuando. Based on expert opinions, the researcher identified key physical abilities and mental processes and selected appropriate tests after conducting an exploratory experiment. The basic tests included quick force tests for both hands, three jumps for maximum distance with each leg separately, quick force tests for arm support, continuous arm bending and extending for 10 seconds, a Barrow test for agility, and the Bourdon-Anvimov test for measuring attention aspects. Following data collection and statistical analysis, the researcher concluded that significant improvements were observed in post-test results compared to pre-tests for both physical abilities and mental processes in the experimental group. The plyometric exercises included in the training program effectively contributed to developing the physical and mental capabilities of the sample.
