Abstract

The study focused on the discus throw among second-year students at the College of Physical Education at Al-Aqsa University, utilizing the experimental method to examine the impact of a training program on selected physical variables and performance levels. The sample consisted of 28 students, with 16 actively practicing athletics forming the main group and 12 serving as a pilot study sample. The researcher applied pre-, intermediate-, and post-tests to measure seven physical variables: arm strength (right and left grip), leg strength, motor balance, agility, flexibility, and the numerical performance in discus throwing. The results showed statistically significant improvements in most physical variables and in the performance level, particularly in the post-test compared to the pre- and intermediate-tests (p < 0.05). However, no significant differences were observed in left-hand grip strength between the pre- and intermediate- or intermediate- and post-tests. Overall, the training program positively affected the physical abilities and discus throw performance, supporting its effectiveness for athletic development in this population.
