Abstract
This study highlights the critical role of faculties of physical education and sports sciences in advancing sustainable development and societal progress, recognizing their responsibility not only in human development but also in environmental reform, which cannot be fully achieved without their active involvement. These faculties bear a significant and almost sacred responsibility, as they shape future leaders and elites who influence societal direction. The importance of the study lies in aligning with the goals of sustainable development, which seek to maximize the benefits of higher education while preserving resource quality and enhancing educational services over time. Sustainable development is seen as an interactive and dynamic process that aims to harmonize three key pillars: human resources, natural resources, and educational development. The central research problem addresses the current state of the requirements needed for comprehensive development within Iraq’s colleges of physical education and sports sciences. The study aims to identify the core elements of sustainable development relevant to these institutions, improve their standing both locally and globally, and increase their contribution to the scientific and academic landscape.
