Abstract
Football is a high-intensity competitive sport, and it often leads to the appearance of different manifestations of aggressive behavior in the green rectangle. In order to address this phenomenon, the present study aims to assess the level of aggressive behavior among the players of the Iraqi league clubs for the 2023–2024 season, and to analyze the correlation of these behaviors with the results achieved by those clubs. The study adopted a descriptive method to adapt it to the nature of the research. The sample included (400) players randomly selected from among (20) clubs, representing (57%) of the total perceived population. To collect data, the Aggressive Behavior Scale (SPSS) was used, where a statistical analysis of (378) valid models was performed through the SPSS program. Statistical processing showed that there were statistically significant differences between clubs in dimensions (attack, verbal aggression, and rejection), where the calculated values of (F) were (5.722, 6.417, and 5.742), respectively. These differences were found to be tilted in favor of the clubs that were at the bottom of the league standings (i.e., those that scored higher levels of aggression). On the other hand, the results showed no statistically significant differences in dimensions (suspicion, speed of excitement, and indirect aggression). The discussion concluded that the players of the top clubs had high levels of technique and maximum psychological strength, allowing them to control emotions and reduce aggressive behavior compared to defensive teams. Therefore, there is a direct relationship between aggressive behavior and the club's rating and results.
