Abstract
The research problem focused on the noticeable variation in the performance level of the spike skill in volleyball, which the researcher attributes partly to a lack of spinal flexibility. This limitation hinders achieving the proper range of motion and is compounded by the insufficient emphasis given to flexibility in the teaching and training process. Therefore, the research aimed to examine the effect of a proposed training program on improving spinal flexibility and to assess how this improvement influences the performance of the spike skill in volleyball. The researcher employed the experimental method using two randomly selected equivalent groups from a sample of 30 fourth-year students in the College of Physical Education at the University of Baghdad. The training program consisted of 16 sessions over eight weeks, with two 15-minute sessions per week. After conducting the necessary tests and applying appropriate statistical methods, the researcher concluded that the proposed training program had a positive effect on developing flexibility, which in turn led to improved performance in the spike skill.
