Abstract

The researcher addressed the introduction and significance of the study, as well as the research problem. The study aimed to investigate the effect of cooperative learning using the serial practice method and the random practice method on learning some basic volleyball skills (setting, receiving, and serving). The researcher hypothesized that there are statistically significant differences between the pre- and post-tests for both research groups in learning these basic volleyball skills, and also significant differences between the two groups in the post-test results. The experimental method was used due to its suitability for the nature of the study, and the sample consisted of 20 second-year female students from the College of Physical Education for Girls. After conducting pre-tests on the skills studied, applying the educational methods, and then post-tests, appropriate statistical tools were used to analyze the results. The study concluded that cooperative learning with both serial and random practice methods positively affects learning basic volleyball skills. Moreover, the serial practice method had a more positive effect on learning the serving skill, while the random practice method had a more positive effect on learning the setting and receiving skills. The main recommendations were to use cooperative learning in teaching volleyball skills with both methods, conduct similar studies applying cooperative learning in other sports activities, and carry out further research on other teaching strategies and sports games.
