Abstract

Football is considered one of the most popular sports worldwide, if not the most popular. Observing the significant development in the performance of international teams, it is clear that this progress no longer relies solely on sports training as a science directly related to achievement but also increasingly focuses on studying other supporting sciences that enhance performance. In this context, sports education experts emphasize that most international teams are very close in terms of physical, technical, and tactical levels. Therefore, an important factor determining the outcome of their competitive struggles is the psychological factor, which plays a crucial role in achieving victory and excellence in sports championships. Sports training experts have gone further by paying close attention to various psychological aspects such as motivation, incentives, attitudes, psychological emotions (like fear and anxiety), job satisfaction or role fulfillment, and solving psychological problems related to training and competition. Each of these phenomena has been studied extensively, including their subdivisions and branches. For example, anxiety can sometimes facilitate performance but, when excessive, disrupts the physiological and psychological integration of the player, leading to decreased performance. Studies indicate differences in anxiety levels between athletes in team sports compared to individual sports, and even within team sports, anxiety levels vary among players, between training and competition environments, and before easy versus difficult matches.
