Abstract
Sport has advanced rapidly in recent years due to significant developments in the theories and principles of sports training science, along with the substantial technical and scientific progress in various related fields. One of the essential and vital skills in basketball is the jump shot, making it imperative for basketball coaches to focus on teaching, training, and developing the physical abilities of their players to perform this skill effectively. This focus contributes to creating a strong offensive team capable of scoring more points and, at times, compensating for weaknesses in defense. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of a proposed training program on improving the specific physical abilities related to the jump shot in basketball among fourth-stage female students at the College of Physical Education for Women. The experimental method was used on a sample of four students during the academic year 2008–2009. After statistical analysis, the study concluded that the proposed training program had a positive impact on enhancing the physical capabilities required for executing the jump shot in basketball. Accordingly, the researchers recommended adopting this training program as part of the curriculum for fourth-stage female students in the College of Physical Education for Women.
