As well as to identify the effect of using this method in learning some cognitive aspects and the performance of physical exercises of teaching methods on a sample of students of the second stage of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences - University of Diyala. It was chosen by random method divided into two groups. The researchers used the experimental approach to suit the nature of the problem and its objectives. After the implementation of the material by the two groups and obtain data and processed statistically to reach the results, Which pointed to the most important conclusions: The method of initiative has a positive effect on learning some theoretical aspects and physical exercise performance in teaching methods. The researchers recommend the following: The need to use indirect teaching methods, including the method of initiative, which depends on the student in the management of the lesson because of their influence in increasing self-confidence and motivation in the decision-making by him.
