The effect of the cognitive apprenticeship styles and the numbered heads in learning the skills of the straight high Dribbling and changing the direction of basketball for middle school students

The two methods of cognitive apprenticeship and numbered heads are among the educational methods that may be appropriate and that have a positive impact in teaching basketball skills, and the teaching process is a continuous series of relationships between teacher and student aimed at developing the student skill fully, cognitively and pedagogically, the aim of the research is to identify the effect of using The two methods of cognitive discipleship and numbered heads in learning the skill of the two types of Dribbling (high pecking and changing direction) in basketball for the third average students of the outstanding, the research community consisted of (75) students from the third stage students of the average of the people (A-B-C) in the high school for outstanding boys in The General Directorate of Education, Baghdad, Karkh II, 59 students were randomly selected and divided into (20) students for exploratory experiments, while the number of the research sample was (39) students divided into three groups (two experimental groups and a control group) consisting of the two groups. The two experiments consisted of (13) students for each group, while the control group consisted of (13) students. and the homogeneity of the sample, each group implemented its educational curriculum, so the first experimental group applied the cognitive apprenticeship method (13) students, the second experimental group applied the numbered heads learning method (13) students, and the third control group applied the usual learning method (13) students, The educational curriculum took six weeks for the period from 14/11/2021 to 21/12/2021 and included two educational units per week for each group, the unit time was (45) minutes. Then the post-test for the two skills was conducted under the same conditions as the pre-test on Sunday, December 26, 2021.
The researcher used the statistical package (SPSS) and some statistical laws in analyzing the data.
The researcher concluded that the application of the cognitive apprenticeship and numbered heads methods proved its effectiveness in learning the skill of Dribbling basketball for the third average students of the outstanding students of the two experimental groups in comparison with the usual method followed by the physical education teacher for the control group.The researcher recommended the need to use the cognitive apprenticeship methods and the numbered heads in other activities and skills for the same academic stage. And the need for physical education teachers to adopt the competitive and peer learning methods in their educational curricula
