A historical study of the participation of the Iraqi Paralympic with mental disabilities in athletics and the regional achievements (2000-2018)

The study aimed to examine the history of the Iraqi special Olympics federation for athletics, and archiving the participation of the Iraqi special Olympics federation in the regional events for the period ( 2002-2018), and archiving and analyzing the achievements achieved by the Iraq special Olympics federation for athletics for the period ( 2000- 2018), documenting the names of players , numbers of players and coaches of the Iraqi special Olympics federation for athletics in the regional games for the period ( 2002-2018).The two researchers adopted the deductive and analytical historical method because it suits the problem. And also, they related in the data collection phase on a number of the personal interviews with administrators from the Iraqi special Olympics federation according to a form of survey unregulated custom made for this issue.The two researchers used on the theoretical side number of the sources dedicated to the problem of the study, as well as some documents from the Iraqi special Olympics federation, and it contained the study community and the subject was players and the administrators of the Iraqi special Olympics federation participated in the regional games in athletics from ( 2002-2018), and the two researchers concluded the following The participations in the regional championships in athletics for mental disabilities was some kind of good, if it measured the strength of the opponents and the capabilities available for them, as the majority of the achievements achieved confined to jogging activities, in all of its distances and types. And this proves the players have depended on their physical strengths because these events don't need a specific devices and tools for training and competition. And here, the will of the disabled in self-realization appears to us, feeling the success, human value and the equality with their peers of the None disabled. The two researchers have recommended number of recommendations, the most important were: It is so important to take care of documenting the participations and achievements achieved by the mental disabled continually and customed by the records saved in the Iraqi special Olympics federation contain names, results, and all about the regional and international championships, and increase the attention for the historical studies for different events and eras
