Abstract

Intellectual ability is considered one of the important scientific and psychological topics related to motor performance. It includes operations that involve or occur through sensory perception, attention, with various manifestations of perception, imagination, memory, and thinking, as well as response actions. The level of proficiency in motor skills is not only related to the qualifications of training but also to the individual's ability to focus attention and perception. Hence, the research problem emerged in understanding the relationship between attention focus and the accuracy of long-distance serving in volleyball. The study included ten volleyball players from the national volleyball team of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad. After statistical treatments, the researchers found a significant positive relationship between the level of attention focus and the accuracy of long-distance serving. This relationship increased as the training period increased. The researchers recommended the importance of good utilization of the serving time during matches to achieve good performance according to the nature of the player’s focus
