من خلال متابعة الباحثون لهذا الجانب وجدو ان هناك حالات عديدة من التصويبات الفاشلة والتي تضيع فرص الفوز في المواقف الحاسمة ، وقد يكون احد اسباب هذا الفشل هو وجود قصور في عملية تركيز الانتباه حيث ان التعرف على هذه الظاهرة النفسية يساعدنا في تطوير احد العوامل الهامة والمساعدة في نجاح التصويب وهنا تكمن مشكلة البحث.
وكان هدف البحث التعرف على علاقة تركيز الانتباه ودقة التصويب في كرة السلة لدى منتخب جامعة كركوك . وافترض الباحثون هنالك علاقة ارتباط ذات دلالة احصائية بين تركيز الانتباه ودقة التصويب ، واستخدم الباحثون المنهج الوصفي واحدا من افضل المناهج في البحوث الوصفية لانه يعتمد على دراسة الظاهرة كما هي في الواقع ويعبر عنها كميا وكيفيا واشتملت عينة البحث على لاعبي منتخب جامعة كركوك والبالغ عددهم 14 لاعبا واستخدم الباحثون اختبار التصحيح الخاص بالانتباه الذي يعرف باسم اختبار (شبكة تركيز الانتباه) واختبار دقة التصويب كأداة لجمع المعلومات .
