In order to identify the level reached by the player in any sport in general and the game of basketball in particular, Tests must be available for this purpose, as the tests are the objective test by which the evaluation of the learning process and evaluate the level that reached the player in a certain skill or effectiveness, it gives the coach and player the correct indicator, whether negative or positive and thus show their importance in the field of sport and its impact In physical and professional progress and has been proven by scientific research That tests are one of the most used tools of the calendar if not the most at all here, it can be said that relying on tests that are important and scientifically recognized and reflect the real level is necessary, and should not stand in this work to develop these tests to reach the most accurate and the best results. The skill of the follow-up (defensive - offensive) basketball is one of the most important skills because of the direct impact on the outcome of the game and the use of experts and specialists of the game based on the statistics of the skill of follow-up (defensive - offensive) of their players in tournaments and official games and tracking The success rate of the follow-up skill in comparison to the other levels shows that there is a clear weakness in the measurement process in all the statistics related to this skill because the tests used are very old. Here the researcher was able to diagnose a weakness in measuring the performance of follow-up skill. To measure skill performance and try to find solutions to address it. The researcher used the descriptive method in the survey method to solve the problem of research, and the society represents the players of the specialized school for the care of gifted sub-Baghdad and Diyala youth basketball(110 players) and the sample was pulled out (40) player for the pilot tests, which are the sample of the building or the main experiment, the sample of the regulation and the number of (60) player After processing the results, the following conclusions were reached that the design of the tests for defensive follow - Accurate and controlled according to scientific basis
- The standards (standard and modified standard) for both tests were determined by defensive and offensive follow-up 2. The standard levels of the study sample were determined and concentrated at an average level for both tests. The recommendations were the use of the tests by the trainers to measure the skill level of the defensive and offensive follow-up of the basketball players
